They've changed the Formula/Ugly new design for bottles!I'm basing my review on their old formula. I know, I know, that cliche. But let me tell y'all something - the old Andalou products were amazing. Their old Volume Shampoo was shockingly potent, despite it's reasonable price. I never had so much volume in my coarse Asian hair. And of course, all good things always come to an end, and now we're stuck with a new formula that just leaves my hair flat. It's now like any other shampoo in the market.I really did resist writing this review because I thought I was crazy. But I was lucky enough to keep one of the old bottles (Lavender, Biotin) and yes, I can confirm that they've changed the ingredients. And now the magic is gone. And the worst part is the new designs of these white bottles - so rote and generic. The new bottles and formulas are a total indication that the company probably changed the upper management, and now they're just cutting corners. That's a damn shame.2Best Shampoo This has got to be the best shampoo I've ever used. It got one of the best EWG product ratings for safety and it smells AWESOME! It's a thicker shampoo so a little goes a long way so I expect it to last longer than others I've tried. It goes very well with the Andalou Naturals Leave-In Conditioner. 5Love this shampoo in every way! Leaves my hair & sensitive scalp in beautiful, lightly rose scented, clean condition! I really love how this shampoo is for my thick hair, but also for my sensitive scalp & skin. I didn't necessarily buy it due to it's use for color treated hair, but I do actually add color stain to the increasing white streaks in my naturally black hair (Splat hair color, it's amazing), so, it's great for that too. I mainly bought it because it seemed like it was a good formula for those of us with sensitive skin, plus it had a nice, gentle but natural rose scent. Wow! This has been one of the best shampoos (& conditioners) I've found in a long time! Lots of other "sensitive skin formula" shampoos actually burned my scalp, this one gives me no scalp issues at all.Even when I don't use the conditioner, my hair is glossy, shiny, bouncy & feels softly clean, but not stripped dry. My hair has it's natural waves, not frizzy, but also not left with any product in it, making it hang lank & dull either. The scent is natural, not heavy & perfume'y. It is a low suds formula, as stated on the bottle, so don't expect big, frothy foamy suds right away, but this also makes it easier to rinse out. It works even better when combined with the coordinating regular conditioner! I've just ordered the coordinationg leave-in conditioner, which has amazing reviews, can't wait to give that a try~ 5Who knew such a great shampoo existedI'll get my bonafides out of the way. I have cancer. I am on chemotherapy which plays havoc on my hair follicles and my once thick hair is now VERY thin. I was looking for "miracle" to retard the hair loss/thinning process. First, this shampoo smells great, not necessarily a requirement for me, but a pleasant surprise. I use just a little (but then I don't have much hair). Over the past month or so, I've noticed my hair loss has slowed down (a whole lot less hair strands showing up on my pillow, in the shower, at my computer keyboard, etc.. and my hair does feel thicker (not sure if that's wishful thinking or not). So as long as I still have some hair, I'm going to continue to Andalou Naturals shampoo.5Smells good an cleans well, however doesn't lather wellPros: Smells good, natural, cleans wellCons: Doesn't lather very wellRecently, I've been making a switch to all natural products, and got this bottle of shampoo to try out. It smells pretty good and provides a lot of natural ingredients to help clean and protect hair. My only problem with it is it doesn't lather very well. I have to use a bit more than I normally do to get it to lather properly. It's also a bit expensive than popular branded shampoos, but I suppose that's what we have to pay for using all natural products. I have medium to long hair, so maybe this isn't the best shampoo for me. I think having shorter hair might make lathering easier.4Gives great body & volume to thin fine hair!I started experiencing problems in my teens with my scalp breaking out when I used certain hair products. I am now in my 60's & the issue has only gotten worse. I have never determined which ingredient is to blame. I started using more organic & "natural" products in my 50's. This brand of hair products never irritates my scalp. Some of the Avalon organic products will still cause my scalp to break out. I have very thin fine hair. This shampoo gives my hair amazing volume & body. I also use all of the other Argan Stem Cell Age Defying products on my hair.5It worksThis product is amazing. I have very sensitive skin and skin allergies to a lot of products. I ve been using for a few months and I haven t had any problems. Before using this product my hair was shedding like crazy. I noticed since I started using that I wasn t shedding anymore. The other day I went to throw my hair in a pony tail and realized it felt a lot thicker than before. My hair feels soft and light.5Great for dandruff--suprisingly!I used this after reading a blog about dandruff treatment, of all things. I never thought a highly-moisturizing shampoo would be my solution, but this is definitely part of my toolkit now. I use Head and Shoulders Clinical about once a week, and this the rest of the time because it seems to soothe my scalp and doesn't cause irritation like every other shampoo.5Bottom 20% of the bottle was sticky and waxy?I ve purchased this shampoo for years, maybe 3-4. The last two bottles I ve received since they re-formulated, the bottom -20% of the bottle has been completely unusable. It s like they added a wax to their formula and it separates and settles on the bottom. The color goes from somewhat transparent to white opaque and my hair is sticky and waxy when I try to dry it. Guess I m done with this brand since I don t enjoy paying to only use 80% of a bottle.1Excellent Line of ProductsI've been using the Andalou Sweet Orange line (shampoo/conditioner/styling cream/leave in) for 7 months now. My skin and scalp has only become progressively sensitive as I've aged and needed to find something that cleaned well enough but didn't irritate my skin and scalp. I didn't anticipate this working as well as it has. It lathers and cleans well. The conditioner is moisturizing but not heavy. The leave-in and styling cream tame my hair pretty well. It all rinses clean, too, which is evident by how their is hardly any residue on my skin and in the tub (which was a problem with some of the other big name products that have additives). My hair has extra body and dries rather quickly. I lightly diffuse my hair just enough to dry it some and let it air dry the rest of the way. I have thick, virgin hair with deep wave that frizzes easily and can feel a little coarse. I don't expect my hair to remain completely frizz free on very humid/rainy days, but I stay away from other products just for the sake of my skin. I buy this on Amazon as well as Whole Foods. It just depends on where I can get it at a lesser price, but I'm certainly willing to pay full price, though. I hope they never change this or discontinue it.5I, for one, am thrilled the formula has been changed from the original versionI've been using Andalou products for a couple years now, and I love them. I was first sold on their skin care, so when I had seen that they also offered hair care products I was so excited. My excitement was short-lived when I saw that the Sweet Orange Argan "moisturizing" hair products contained dimethicones. I was beyond disappointed. I couldn't understand why they would taint their product with a silicone ingredient. I actually sent them an email, expressing my disappointment and suggesting they consider removing the 'cones' (because I wouldn't be using their shampoos until then). This was over a year ago.A few months ago, I was passing the Andalou shampoos at my local health food market, when I was struck by a curiosity to read the ingredient panel of the Sweet Orange Argan shampoo - you know, just in case. I didn't see dimethicone or other cones anywhere on the label. I read it over again... and again... then I brought it home with me.I have very long, thick, wavy hair, and I used to keep my hair under control (or thought I was) by using products containing silicones (dimethicone, etc...). I, thankfully, realized long ago to no longer fall for the temporary smoothing effects of silicones. They initially make your hair feel great, but that seal they create to smooth down the hair shaft is only locking out moisture and making your hair drier and drier. So, yes, if you've been using silicones, when they're finally stripped off, your hair will feel like straw. This is a good opportunity to heal your hair, but many think the product is to blame and go back to the silicones, which just perpetuates the dryness. So yes, it does clean your hair well, but it's not harsh. I wouldn't consider it a clarifying shampoo; it's just not laying down a new layer of silicone or other build up. It does seem to provide some moisturizing qualities, which, again, your hair can only absorb if it's not coated with silicones. In fact, now that I've healed my hair, I've even gotten away with skipping the conditioner, after using the Sweet Orange Argan shampoo. My hair is down to my waist, so that's no small feat.I'm very happy with it. My hair likes it.I have one other favorite shampoo, so I've added Andalou into a rotation to mix it up a little. I really hope they leave the current formulation as it is. I'll definitely continue to purchase.5This is the best shampoo I ve foundThis is the best shampoo I ve found!!! I am 55, have never dyed my hair, don t heat curl it or put product in it. That said, at my age, my hair is a bit dry. Its also somewhat thinner than it was years ago. This shampoo leaves my hair shiny, soft, full, and almost tangle free. My hair is straight so I don t want something thats going to make it look flat and thin or greasy. This is truly wonderful. It even feels soft the second day! Love it! And they don t test on animals! Total love here!5Great for Post-ChemoMy hair has never bounced back after chemo treatments five years ago. The top was thinning and, even with a short cut, my bangs weren't growing in length, staying the same for months and month. I have switched to sulfate-free products and tried shampoo after shampoo. After using one bottle of this shampoo and adding in the conditioner, I can see a definite difference. My hair is thicker, my bangs are growing, and I don't have to add a microfiller to the top. I highly recommend Andalou Naturals Argan Stem Cell Age Defying Shampoo and Conditioner.5Smells wonderful but will definitely dry out your hairI read the reviews when I bought this and the common complaint was that it dries out your hair.I was skeptical but once I tried it, I immediately knew it was true. After washing my hair with this shampoo, my hair is stripped of its moisture and has the consistency of hay.I would need a very strong conditioner to use with this in order to restore my hair back to its smoothness. One good thing to note is that the smell is very pleasant and it does make your hair feel clean.3Don't like the new formulationThe new formulation is weak.Takes almost twice as much to get my hair clean.2Great natural shampoo I enjoy the way this shampoo lathers up and washes clean easily. A lot of natural brand shampoos and conditioners leave behind a residue in hair, but this is the best I've tried. I like the faintly herbal scent, too. My hair is shiny, smooth and very clean after using this shampoo. I can't say whether this shampoo really makes your hair thicker after hair loss, but I would say that I don't seem to be losing quite as much hair in the shower anymore. 5The BEST Shampoo ever!THE BEST shampoo ever! I have thin naturally curly hair. I have been struggling to fine a good shampoo lately. Since going thru menopause my hair has become unhealthy more thin and lots of breakage. I tried all sorts of thickening/volumizing/hair growing shampoos and nothing worked....This shampoo instantly made my hair feel clean and full. Does not weigh your hair down, does not leave overwhelming scent in your hair. A little goes a long way. Hair dries faster. I liked it so much I ordered the conditioner and hairspray. I give it a 10!5HEADS UP: New product, not only "New Look"I've been using the Andalou Argan & Sweet Orange shampoo and conditioner for over 6 months and my hair was the healthiest it had ever been. My hairdresser even commented on it, more than once. But recently, Andalou changed this product...check the ingredients! It's not just a "New Look" as advertised on the bottle, but it's a whole new formula. One of the main reasons I started using this product was because it had very low ratings on the Environmental Working Group's website (lower ratings mean less harmful products). This new version isn't rated or certified yet, but now contains ingredients like Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate and Cocamidopropyl Betaine (higher ratings on EWG, not good!). The new product also makes my hair feel sticky even after blow drying, as though there is some remaining residue after washing. I absolutely loved the old version, but I'm so disappointed with this new version that I'm now looking for alternative products.2
