WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN TO ADD THIS TO BOOT CAMP UNIFORM ISSUE!!! This NEEDS to be in our military's boot camp initial uniform issue with their first Sea/Duffel Bag! If only I had this from the beginning of my shaving life, I would have saved probably hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on expensive shaving cartridges. Not to mention the mixed plastic/metal/sharps waste it would've prevented. If you, or somebody you know, regularly wet shaves any body parts, get this! 5Doubled the life of my razors I wanted to be conservative in recommending his product. I use the Gillete razors. Each razor usually lasts me two weeks before it becomes unbearable. Still, I thought I noticed a different in that the third shave was felt like the first shave (I can usually feel a significant difference by that point). Maybe perspective bias. But, now that I'm at 4 weeks vs. the usual 2, I can't deny that this has helped a lot, in lifespan and quality. I think I'm ready to change it out, but I'll still try one more good time. Gonna spread the good word!Disclaimer: I also clean and dry my blades to make them last longer. Google "Clark Howard" and disposable razors. His results are unreal, but it helps, too. 5Great product I have had my blade buddy for 3 years and have loved it. Just recently I really started using mine more routinely where as before it was more every now and again. I use a razor that requires replacement heads and I have to say I was able to use just 2 replacement heads for a whole month which is unheard of for me. A typical razor would last me no more than 1 use because I had a lot of areas to cover. The razor would be dull by the end of my shaving. On top of that I'm a frequent shaver all year round so shaving does get costly. This product seems like a silly little thing but it seriously works. I would highly recommend it. It's also easy to use. All you require is some dish soap, a little water, and some patience. I have also found the longer you pass your razor over the blade buddy the sharper the razor becomes. On a typical day when I go to resharpen my razors I go at it for a good 15 mins. To kill the time I put a show on my phone so I'm distracted. That 15 min pass on my razor lasts me a good 3 shaves until I have to resharpen it again. I would also recommend using a cheap tooth brush and a little liquid soap to clean your razor often when shaving to remove any hair/build up that can occur from the shaving cream as this can also cause your razor to dull. This little tip has helped me avoid any unnecessary friction when shaving and to get a more comfortable shave. 5Worth It, Extends the Life of Your Blades I purchased this about 3 months ago and am pleased so far with its utility in making my blades last a bit longer. Using it, I have been able to extend the life of each blade by about 3x before seeing diminishing return. Background: I shave 6 days a week (just once over the weekend) as I like to be clean shaven and my facial hair grows in fast. I've been using Gillette Mach 3 (and Mach 3 Turbo if they're on sale) blades since they came out and the Air Force sent one to me for free. Recently I've also been trying out the Harry's Truman blade set (I like them, but that's another story). Generally, I can get about two weeks' worth of shaves before I feel discomfort from an uneven blade edge. Oh, and I use the plain ole' Gillette shaving foam with the red cap.Using Blade Buddy (BB for short in this review): First of all, I use it every time from the beginning (not starting with an old blade). Put shaving cream on your face, then a dab on the BB, smear it around, and slide your razor up the BB about 30-50 times (it's so quick that you don't even count, maybe 20-30 seconds). Rinse off the razor, and use it as you normally would. In my experience, the Harry's blade lasted six weeks using the BB. A Gillette Mach 3 Turbo blade also lasted about 6 weeks before I began feeling discomfort as I would have after just 2 weeks.Pros:- Made my blades last much longer (about 3x)- easy to use and fits in my shaving timeframeCons:- It rubs off the color on the Mach 3 Turbo "comfort strips" faster (I really don't think that matters anyhow)Summary: I do highly recommend this product. It's not magic; stropping (or honing) blades has been commonplace for a long time, but being able to strop modern shaving cartridges reliably is new. This will NOT sharpen a dull blade. It costs about $20, but could easily save you that much money after you go through 2-3 blades in the time you would have gone through 6-10. 5Gimmick This thing does not work. I tried it for awhile and haven't noticed any difference in my razor grade at all. Waste of money. 1I likey Works pretty darn well. Either I am nuts or the sharpening surface, made of Elffen magic cookie material, somehow actually works. Gained days (of every other day shaving) no irration, no bumps or burn. Will add, I have normal skin, not sensitive. The BB R S, works for me and should work for you. Like to say i m using Barbasol twin blade disposable. Judge for yourself and remember women s blades (my wife s Venus razors) have good performance. We ve all wasted a lot more on less. 4Will pay for itself As someone who shaves his head and sometimes his face, I go through a lot of razors. Here s the trick to get at least 2x or 3x the use out of your razor. Use this product prior to shaving as directed. Then post shave, clean your razor in rubbing alcohol and then store as normal. I ve used the same razor for MONTHS without getting nicked and maintaining a skin close shaved head. (I have a full head of hair and shave it by choice...at least for now). Try it and if this helps, click the little helpful button. Good luck! 5Works great! I was skeptical but I figured it didn't cost a lot of money and would be easy to return. I am skeptical no more. I began by using a well-used cartridge and the improvement was noticeable, even though I stropped the razor only about five times. I don't think I will use each cartridge for a longer time but the near-end shaves will certainly be a lot more comfortable and closer than before.I read elsewhere that these devices do not sharpen the blades, they straighten them out and this is plausible to me. My tips: Strop the blade every day, coat the Blade Buddy with soap before stropping, slide the blades definitely beginning on the bottom "rough" strip and continue all the way off the top (the strops are progressive, ISTM).BTW, I use a badger brush with shaving-soap cake to later up, and I strongly recommend that! 5Save TONS of $$$ and Help The Planet This actually works - it sharpens your razor cartridges. As we all know, these blades are stupid expensive - and made to last maybe a week if you have a heavy beard face. With the Blade Buddy - my blades last about 4 week! Sometimes more. You'll notice a HUGE difference. So easy to use. Note - when I got my first BB it came with a tray - this is the rubber piece that fits inside the tray - does not come with a tray. Since it's this pad that does the actual sharpening - you may not need the tray. But the tray is made to hold this pad so it just feels right - I think you get more traction and steady stroke with the tray - so perhaps the sharpening is better. Plus the tray gives it a more finished look if you care about that. Mine is out in the bathroom since I use it every day - if this is you - look for one with the tray! 5Unfortunately, didn't work for me... After reading all the great reviews, I had high hopes that the Blade Buddy would extend the life of my (relatively expensive) Mach 3 Turbo razor blades. It made sense to me that this product could essentially function as a strop to keep the razor edge sharper. All of the positive reviews encouraged me to purchase it.After trying it for a few months per the directions, I have to say that I am very disappointed and have stopped using it because I found it made no difference at all for me. I started with two fresh blades, alternating between the two each day. On one, I used the razor buddy each time I shaved. On the other, I didn't use the razor buddy and just rinsed the razor off. Unfortunately, both razors (the one I used the blade buddy on and the one I didn't) started getting dull right around the same time and I ended up scrapping both razors right about the same time. I repeated the experiment again, this time stropping more times on the blade buddy before using the one razor (probably more like 40 times rather than the recommended 15-20). Same deal - no difference in when the razor started feeling dull.I used the razor buddy as directed (lubricating it with a small amount of shaving cream and then stropping the blade on it several times before use), but I didn't find it extended the razor lifetime at all....Has anyone else tried an experiment like this to see if the blade life was actually extended? I just can't understand all the positive reviews and wonder if it might just be a placebo effect.I wish I had saved the $8 or whatever it cost... 1
