Awesome soapThis soap is awesome. They call it a cream, but its really a soft soap. Great thick lather, a lot of staying power, and for those of us who love us some tallow in our soaps and creams, this has got it in spades. Has a pretty sweet almond smell to me, which doesn't really hang around during or after the shave, but pleasant nonetheless when smelling it directly.Highly rec'd soap/cream.5Lasts for a freakishly long amount of timeI love this stuff -- it smells wonderful, not too fragrant, a light almond scent. It lathers up very nicely with very little product -- I am using a boars-hair brush. The shave is perfect -- I have sensitive skin and this never irritates. All that would be enough to buy it again, but the amazing thing about this is that it lasts seemingly forever -- I've used many of the competitors products (Jack Black, etc..) and they all lasted about a month or two... this Cella bowl lasted me almost a YEAR. CRAZY. So...um... yeah - I will be only buying these from now on. Amazing product.5A classic soap.I'm a huge fan of this soap. It smells very nice. I completely understand the people who say it smells like cherries, but it has that sweet almond smell that is unmistakable as well. The scent is present when you shave but goes away right after you wash it off. This is great if you plan on using an aftershave/cologne and don't want them clashing. It lathers great and offers good protection. You get a great amount of product for the price. This is a classic and a must try.5Clearly on of my favorite shave soaps.I can see why many people enjoy a shave with Cella. Great, soft shave soap. The scent is like a cherry-almond scent (If you like that type of fragrance) . Very enjoyable. The lathering is easy, & enough on the brush for more than one pass. The slickness of the lather is perfect for a great shave. Comes in a nice plastic tub.I have no complaints on this shave soap. Would get it again, and again. If you're into the wet shave & looking for a great soap, I recommend Cella. Love this stuff.5Good, but not a top tier performerFine product, but not in my top 10. Honestly I was expecting a little more from this given the many fine reviews. I found that it gives a good shave and lathers well but neither the performance nor the aroma is good enough to make a place in my regular rotation. Consistency is as a hard soap, so people looking for "cream" style should look elsewhere. (This was a plus for me.)Very solid performer but not worth the effort given some of the other great alternatives. I'd rank it with Van Der Hagen (which I like).3Goodbye can creams and gels. Great ProductLove this stuff. Smell is great, lathers up very well with just a little bit. Will never buy regular shaving cream again. I m still using the regular 4 or 5 blade mainstream type razor handle, I guess a bit chicken to go with the old school razor but I still get an incredibly closer shave than I ever have with can creams and gels. I m a fan, great product.5Very moisturizing lather and not just for menI'm a woman in my 40s who has switched to shave soaps & a brush after years of canned foam. I prefer soft Italian "croaps" (cross between hard cream & a soft soap), rather than a standard issue hard puck of soap. Ease of lathering & I like the self-contained plastic container, since I shave in the shower & can also travel with it. Cella is labeled as a cream, but in my opinion, it's definitely a croap. It has a very strong almond fragrance (some call it a cherry-almond) which I found quite pleasant and female-appropriate, but if you're sensitive to fragrance, just be advised. It's crazy easy to lather with the Marco method (if you're new to wet shaving or having trouble making lather, google it - you won't regret it), and provides a very moisturizing, close, irritation-free shave. The first ingredient is coconut oil, and as my skin tends to be dry, I found this lather far more creamy & moisturizing than my usual favorites (Proraso green or white soap). Tallow provides a lot of slickness. The packaging is vintage-y/retro and attractive enough to leave out on a counter or shelf. This croap will definitely be in my regular rotation and may even replace Proraso green as my first choice. Added January 2019: I've even purchased the 1 kg large box of Cella to refill my container, I love it so much.5Smells so good, you almost want to take a bite!First off, disclaimer, I love almond and marzipan as a food and as a scent. If that s not you, this product might not for you...if it is, wait no longer, press that buy button!I got the soft soap version in the red plastic tub. Scent is great! Lather is great! Helps provide a great shave! It s easy to see why this is a classic product that s been around for a while. The one negative thing I can think of, if I had to, is that the tub it comes in is a bit small for loading larger brushes. I love Cella though.5Great scent, respectable glide. It took me a couple of attempts to get the water ratio correct - as I'm used to creams, but this is really great stuff. Fits into the "croap" category (softer than a soap, firmer than a cream... croap). The scent, cherry and almond, is wonderful - though diminishes once the lather is built. I generally bowl lather, and it's quite easy to whip up generous amounts in short order. You don't really have to bloom cella beforehand, but it doesn't hurt.I find that cella works best when my face is freshly wet, so I do a full rinse between passes. There is a respectable amount of glide present, even after you've gone over an area. As long as I don't let my face dry in between passes, I get excellent shaves from cella.5A Shaving Cream Deserving its ReputationCella justly has the reputation of being the epitome of Italian shaving cream and as such every wet shaver should experience it. There may be softer creams available in tubs (such as TOBS) and it may take a little longer to get the brush loaded but the lather that can be produced is exquisite.I've tried a lot of creams and soaps and Cella, IMHO, ranks with the best there is. Smoothness and protection are hallmarks of this cream. While its aroma is not subtle it isn't overpowering or overly lingering.A tub of Cella will always grace my shaving den. If you've never tried it you should.5Take your time and learn the soap. A fairly well known "cream" in the shaving community. It's a good "creme" but it can be hard to lather if you don't show some patience with it. Some people have no trouble but for others it can be difficult, the soap does not like hard water. It's a tallow based soap and while I enjoy it the stuff can be finicky with water. When it comes to tallow based soaps they are very sensitive to water. For each drop of water you add to it consider it 10. This "creme" is more of a soft soap as well, it needs a lot of back bone and if your using a badger haired brush you will have to spend some time loading it. I fully recommend a boar hair brush if you want to use this soap. It really benefits from the stiffness of a boar hair brush.I like this soap but it takes some practice to get use to. Many soaps will work with just about anything, a little water or a lot they typically do not mind either way. Tallow soaps however are not that way, I've always liked my soaps on the wetter side then most people it's just what works with me. I know people who are the exact opposite tho ultimately it comes down to what works for you. This soap is very sensitive to water tho and I know I'm repeating myself I just want to make that clear because if you try and lather this up with a lot of water in your brush you will not get any type of lather. You can add water to it as you build the lather but you have to do it slowly over time and not all at once.I really enjoy this soap but if your new to shaving just take your time with it and be aware if you have hard water you may have some difficulty with the soap. However if you do work with it and give it a chance I'm positive you will enjoy it. 5
