Very nice multi-brush/razor display rackWhen I opened the box I was immediately pleased with the look and feel of this stainless steel rack. It has a nice heft to it and exudes quality construction. I bought it because it advertised two different size brush racks - "one for a large brush (31 mm opening) and one for a medium/small brush (25 mm opening)" . . . those are knot sizes, so my Vulfix 40C Super Badger Shaving Brush with a 31mm knot the brush would not hang by the handle, but the knot did slip into the 31mm prong for drying/display. Neither would my "Semogue 830 Premium Boar Bristle Shaving Brush" hang by the handle (44mm) but the 22mm knot slipped right into the smaller prong. The two razor prongs allow me to hang my choice of bulldog to long handled razors.5Basic shaver standI started collecting DE shavers as a hobby and this stand is GREAT for holding my daily razors. Having options for both myself and my wife is great. I sometimes use different blades based on how much growth has occurred and I have them all ready to go on the stand. I highly recommend this product!55 stars, with caveatsSimple, elegant, and sturdy. I'm happily using it to hold a 1962 Gillette slim, a Merkur Futur, and a Simpson Commodore X2 brush.Contrary to some other reviews, I find that you'd have to work hard to tip it over, that it doesn't come unscrewed (unless you intentionally unscrew it), and there are no signs of rust after about a month of use (if I ever see any, I'll update my review). Now for the caveats (which others have also mentioned):(1) This stand is really for safety razors -- a razor with a tapered, v-shaped neck (like my Gillette Mach 3) will rotate and slip out of the prongs.(2) A razor with a wide handle, like my Merkur Futur, won't fit in the "razor prongs," but sits well in the second brush prong.I've measured the spaces between the prongs so you can tell if your razors/brushes will fit.For the razor prongs, the space is about 1.15 cm.The brush prongs are different. For one, the space about 2.5 cm. For the other, the space is a hair over 3 cm.For a comfortable fit, stay under these measurements.Caveats aside, this is a 5-star product.5Doesn't fit my brush, doesn't stay tightI picked up the Parker Saftey Razor 100% Silvertip Badger along with this thing. They are NOT compatible; the brush is too big (unless you want to hold it at the base of the bristles but screw that nonsense). Not only that, but I can't seem to get the top part screwed in tightly enough -- the U-shaped holders just freely rotate. It fits my Edwin Jagger De89bl razor perfectly fine but I don't even bother because of the rotation issue. So, even if I do get another brush, I doubt I'll use it.2Just what I was looking for!!!!!!!!!!!!!I needed a shave stand that could hold 2 razors and two shave brushes. It worked out very good and a plus its stainless steel. I read a few reviews that said the stand was rusting maybe they received a different stand than I did my stand doesn't show any signs of rust even on the bottom of the stand. I would buy it again if I needed another one. One of the best features of the stand is there are you different size openings for the shave brushes, which are perfect for my brushes. ASIN: B004RQ4ACW5Good stand but would like to see both brush holders ...Good stand but would like to see both brush holders to be the same size as in the larger sized one.4With a few adjustments, perfect! Here were my criteria: the stand had to be stainless steel (no rust); it had to fit my Art of Shaving brush (most don't because the brush is too big); and had to cost much, much less than $150 (the price places like The Art of Shaving charge). This stand fit the bill. HOWEVER, I didn't like the look. I don't have two razors or two brushes, and don't expect I ever will, so you have an excess of prongs sticking out (unnecessary and less elegant). So I did this: unscrewed the top, took off the smaller prong, bought a stainless steel washer (otherwise it won't screw on tight), and am just using the larger of the two prongs. I hang my brush on the large side and my safety razor on the smaller side. Problem solved! And for cheap. Totally satisfied. Hopefully they keep them in stock again.5good product. This stand fits my chubby 2 best badger brush perfectly. 5Functional product for holding 2 brushes, 2 razorsThis is probably going to sound like a negative review, but I honestly don't mean it as such. I just think anyone considering purchasing should know what they're getting.First off, I haven't found another product that holds 2 x 2 like this one does. I think that any wet shaving enthusiast (yes, that's a real thing) would agree that having 2 brushes and 2 razors at the ready is not at all an unreasonable thing to do. Many enthusiasts have collections of dozens of razors, so I think it's great to have more than one at your fingertips. I wish there were more products to choose from that accomplish this objective because:The quality and workmanship of this product is... meh. Not bad. It's not wobbly, and I don't feel like my stuff is going to fall out. But I have another 1x1 stand that I got as part of a "shaving kit" and the quality is heads and shoulders better than this one. Frankly, I was disappointed when I opened the box, because from the pictures, you can't really see a difference. Holding it in my hand, though, I can really see the inferior workmanship of this product. The stamping is sloppy, the center bar is thinner, and the base is smaller. I feel like I could easily bend the prongs if I wanted to. To do this with my other stand, I would need a pair of pliers, or I'd need to step on it, for the pongs to bend. Also, on my other stand, I can't unscrew the top screw holding it together. I don't know if it's secured with something like thread lock, or if they just cranked it down really tight at the factory, but with my hands, I cannot unscrew it. By contrast, this comes disassembled (for good reason - it would be unwieldy to ship it otherwise) and I can't seem to screw the top cap on tight enough so that it doesn't wiggle loose every few days. Again, not a deal-breaker, but a little more fit and finish, and I feel this problem could have been prevented.Overall, it just feels like they took a cheap regular razor stand and shipped it with an extra set of prongs to screw on. It's not a set of 4-way prongs on the top, but just two regular prongs (of slightly different sizes - nice touch) that you arrange in an cross and screw down. If there were another product that enabled me to neatly store two razors and two brushes on my sink top, I would almost definitely give it a try. But there isn't, so this one gets the job done at a mere three stars. If you're an enterprising young upstart who has access to a stainless steel stamping machine, you could probably easily design and build a product better than this one, and you would utterly corner the market on multiple razor stands for wet shaving enthusiasts. (I swear, that IS a thing!) You would sell literally tens of these as soon as they went on sale. I don't know if that would justify the cost of setting up the stamping machine, though.3A great value and a compelling price! This is a fantastic product! Its *stainless steel* construction guarantees much more wear resilience than similar products. It also has FOUR times the capacity of those ugly plastic jobs, and twice the capacity of the Colonel Conk product -- very important in conserving counter space -- and all for just a few dollars more. Not only that, the big plus here is that this unit is stainless steel. Even the *base* of this unit is a solid piece of milled stainless steel. This is a huge plus for a metal product likely to habitually get wet and remain in an almost exclusively damp environment. Other products may go SS up top, but cheap out on the base and just use chrome plating of plain iron. With those products, somehow water manages to get in past the chrome and rust out the entire piece, ruining the product. That's just not going to happen with this product.About the hooks themselves, they're reasonable spacious. The brush hooks accomodate both my MASSIVE White Handled Omega Professional Boar Hair Shaving Brush as well as my Rooney 3/1. The razor hooks handle my EJ89 and Muhle R41 easy peasy. In short, this is a LOT of product for the money, making it a very good value. I'd give this product a strong buy recommendation.5Decent product and materialsThis stand has a nice weight to it. It is made of a decent quality stainless steel however it was not perfect upon arrival and contained some scratches. My biggest problem with this product was it needed a good cleaning before being put in the bathroom. It contained stains that were difficult to remove and it appeared someone had dumped a massive amount of grease on the threads for the base. After about 30 minutes of cleaning this stand it looked pretty nice and does a nice job holding my EJ DE89. My brush on the other hand tends to slide out because the prongs are not perfectly horizontal. This can be fixed, however, with a bit of fine tuning in a vice.Overall I gave this product a 3 out of 5 because it simply does the job; nothing more and nothing less. I am sure I will be buying a nicer/cleaner/more expensive stand in the future but for now, this will have to do.3
