Customer Reviews

Best free and clear conditioner that I've usedI have been trying all kinds of products for my hair to tame the dandruff but also tame my curls without irritating my sensitive skin. I am Autistic and have PCOS, so sensitive dry skin issues are a major thing for me. I use this conditioner along with the same brand free and clear anti dandruff shampoo, and it does miracles on my hair and scalp! I don't even have to buy styling product when I use these two together my curls get in such great condition! If I feel my hair is a little too frizzy, then I wet my hair and rub just a pea size amount of the conditioner in my hair like styling product and it does just as good of a job. I grew up hella poor so spending more than 1 - 3 $ on a bottle of hair care always seemed outrageous to me. But this stuff really is worth it for how my skin and hair feels, plus it lasts a long time. It doesn't have an odor either, which I like a lot.5Great Conditioner!I have fine, straight, colored, thinning hair. I also recently started experiencing dandruff/seb derm which is likely an overgrowth of Malassezia (present on everyone, dogs, cats, etc). This has NO ingredients that feed that yeast (carbon-chains of 11-24). The treatment products for this yeast are drying. This conditioner does NOT strip my color! It leaves my hair shiny and feeling clean. Too, it does not weight my hair down like so many other conditioners making it limp and looking greasy. I like it more than any other conditioner I've used.5Allergist recommendedI will never use any other hair conditioner again. I was having problems with itching. My allergist recommended all free & clear products to me. The main problem I have is rinsing to much out in the end. So if I do this I just add a little more with my hands and wrap in towel to let it absorb into scalp and hair. It works great. One bottle lasts a long time. There is no smell to it, which is wonderful because I have daily migraines which can become that an become quit severe with sentes. I use use this with free & clear shampoo. My hair is soft and shiny. I absolutely love these products!5Just what I was looking forThis really doesn't smell like anything. Fantastic! Does a good job as an everyday conditioner for me. Quite pleased.Wish it cost less, but since it's doubtless not mass produced in the quantities that "brand name" products are, what can you expect. Doesn't have economy of scale on its side. We need to convince everybody we know that not EVERY product (deodorant, soap, hand lotion, shampoo etc.) has to smell like hydrangeas or vanilla or guacamole dip. Why do people feel the need to wear a jarring concoction of fragrance soup? It's overkill. Simple and clean is the choice for me.5Not happy with itI bought this because it appeared on a product safe list from my dermatologist. It's okay, but I like Cleure conditioner for Sensitive Skin better. Cleure's conditioner is replenishing while this one just kind of sits there. I did not find it left my hair soft and manageable. It felt more dry than what I expect from a conditioning product. I was disappointed because I like other Free & Clear products.3Excellent on all countsPersonal purchase (not free for review). I am extremely sensitive to fragrance. I also have fussy 2b wavy shoulder-length hair. My favorite shampoo and conditioner was Shea Moisture Fruit Fusion (scent did not trigger me, effect on my hair was excellent) however it became hard to find (discontinued?). I switched to this and love it just as much, if not more. There is legitimately no scent that I can discern either out of the bottle or left on my hair. It conditions beautifully. I can leave a little in during certain weather conditions and it helps my hair retain moisture and volume. It never leaves it greasy (unless I leave in too much, user error). A little goes a long way so it lasts me a very long time. Absolutely nothing I can think of as a drawback - and I have tried hundreds of shampoos and conditioners, along with a years-long journey of discovering how to work with my hair (I am a wash-and-diffuse-and-go gal).5Only Kind I Can Use!Free & Clear Hair Conditioner for Sensitive Skin, and its companion shampoo, are the only shampoo and conditioner I can use. I am allergic to formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing agents. These are preservatives, and are in almost everything. Thanks to some manufacturers, there ARE a few products out there that those of us with this allergy can use. Free & Clear conditioner and shampoo work very well for me. My hair is clean, soft, and manageable. PLEASE keep stocking it as I have found no other shampoo and conditioner free of these preservatives!!! My dermatologist has sample tubes of the conditioner in his office, for patients to try if they are having problems with other products. I will continue buying Free & Clear Conditioner and Shampoo forever, so please keep it available and tell the manufacturer not to change or discontinue it. THANK YOU, Amazon, for carrying it!5Not bad, not as good as Paula's Choice It's a very light conditioner, but it's enough that I can comb my hair wet after using it. I break out in hives if I use anything with fragrance (plus a few fragrance free products) and I had no skin reaction to this one. I usually use Paula's Choice conditioner but I ran out and didn't want to extra for fast shipping. I like the PC better because it's thicker and this left my hair a little frizzy on humid days. I thought it was cheaper, but with an online coupon and free shipping it was only a few cents less. I am excited that I found a backup that I'm not allergic to - in case PC ever changes their formula (like they did with their shampoo). 4This works, BUT...Supposedly our bodies change every seven years or so. I used to have such sensitive skin to fragrant shampoos and conditioners then it seemed to bother me less and less. Then recently the past few years fragrant shampoos and conditioners have started bothering me again. My hair is a fine type and I feel like more hair is falling out than normal (for fine hair and being a 25 year old woman I shouldn't lose more than my mom and grandma combined). Anyways, I bought this product, the hypo allergenic conditioner about 3 weeks ago and have used it every day since. I've noticed that my scalp wasn't getting as many red areas of skin, but what I have noticed is that this conditioner is drying out my scalp and my hair... so while this product may work for some, for me it really hasn't done good enough. It's not moisturizing. I'm worried the dryer my scalp and super dry hair may lead to more hair falling out (I've even taken hair supplements to try and heal my scalp and hair from within like Viviscal for like 5 months. Not as religiously taken as I should though.)2Just what the doctor ordered!Even though I had been using hair products that were unscented & w/ as few ingredients as possible, my sensitive skin & scalp were flaring up 8-10 yrs ago; when I went to a dermatologist who was also board certified in allergy & immunology, he recommended this brand of hair & skin care products. I am still using this shampoo & conditioner, as well as most of Vanicream's other products, & have had no further flare ups. Since I am also sensitive to many scents, this product being unscented is good for me as well.5Can't comb through hair!I purchase some this because I have sensitive skin that breaks out easily. It doesn't break me out, but it doesn't leave my hair feeling soft and it tangles up really easily after. I'm talking huge knots when I try to brush my hair. It almost feels worse than if I shampooed only and then brushed. I've broken a lot of my hair off trying to get my comb through. Won't buy again.2Great conditioner for allergies or sensitivities!!If you have frangeance allergies, suffer from Multiple Chemical Sensitivity or from a Mast Cell disorder, I reccomend checking this conditioner out (as well as Vanicream's other products).I found Vanicream to be a lifesaver for me after I became very sick from chemical and fragrance allergies. This conditioner is closer to what one would find from conventional shampoos and conditioners --- same consistency and such. However, unlike conventional soaps, there aren't any harsh chemicals or botanical extracts to 'scent' the conditioner. It's very gentle on my skin and my hair. For my fianc , he finds it to cause his scalp to itch slightly so he sticks with Magik Botanicals. For me, this works better. I have normal hair and not any real scalp issues, not overly oily or dry. I do ocassionally add raw honey in with my conditioner for a deep conditioning, and they work well together. I use this along with the Free and Clear shampoo and my hair is soft and clean and free of things that make me sick!My only complaint is the price, but that is a common complaint of mine now that I am sick. Products that do not cause anaphylactic reactions in me always seem to be pricier than my old, and now unsafe, products. Please note that if you are switching from a drugstore or salon brand with all those harsh ingredients, your hair and scalp will need time to adjust! Just as your body needs time to adjust from any major change.54 out of 5. Better for occasional use instead of daily.I have thick wavy hair that is both dry and I am blessed with an incredibly sensitive scalp. Ugh. I gave this a try in hopes for some healing and there were some pros and cons. Overall I liked it but it seems to weigh your hair down with how heavy the conditioner is. It helped my very dry hair get the moisture it needed but it never felt like my hair was dry with it in. I guess it felt like it never washed out well enough. I will say it absolutely helped my irritated scalp! I think it would be good to use once in awhile but not multiple times a week. Thin hair would not do well with this product and keep in mind less is more with this conditioner4Life changing !! I ve struggled with Sensitive skin for so long, I never thought about googling a special conditioner until recently. Any store name brand conditioner makes me itch, breakout, and burn the moment the conditioner hits my skin, but not this stuff omg I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. My showers are 200% better now. 5Left my hair dry and brittle I have very sensative skin and was looking for a really natural product with a small ingredient list and this definitely fit bill. Unfortunately it left my hair very dry and constantly tangled - and a lot of it started falling out. I also had a hard time getting it to lather. The conditioner is nice, just maybe not enough for my hair (I have a lot of thin, straight hair). I stopped using it and my hair stopped falling out so I'm pretty sure it was from the product. I'm glad it works for lots of people, I'm just not one of them. 2It's alright for my hair but fantastic as a shaving cream. This is truly fragrance free and it works pretty good for a conditioner, it really does need to sit for 1-3 minutes to achieve average results (my hair isn't tangled but it seems to get frizzy at the ends by the end of the day). It does, however, make an AWESOME SHAVING CREAM substitute for someone with sensitive skin like me. I almost always deal with some razor burn the day after shaving, especially if I try to use soap. I have tried many different shaving creams and gels promising less razor burn with marginal, if any, results so I was incredibly pleased and surprised that this conditioner seems to have out done them all. It was slick enough and gentle enough on my skin that I had almost no razor burn the next day and it also does not aggravate my asthma the way the heavily fragranced stuff does.4Not actually hypoallergenicI had contact dermatitis, source unknown, while using other shampoo/conditioner products prior to this. My dermatologist was SURE that it was impossible for the Free and Clear products to cause any skin issues, so I started using this shampoo/conditioner. While the shampoo is fine, and I still use it, it took the better part of a year to figure out that this conditioner was the cause of continuing contact dermatitis on my face and neck. It took so long to figure out because this product was suppose to be SO hypoallergenic, so we never suspected it could be the cause. Nope. Once I stopped using it, my rashes cleared up in a week.So if you are using this conditioner on the assumption it is the ultimate hypoallergenic product, and you still have skin issues, it's quite likely this could be the cause.Otherwise it performs OK as a conditioner. I accepted the not great conditioning because I was so desperate for a hypoallergenic product, but it's not a great conditioner in general. The best part is it's basically scent-free.1
