Love/hate relationshipPros - These held my hair all day. I have thick curly hair so this is an amazing thing!Cons- when I pushed in to secure the pins I ended up breaking two of them the very first time they were used. Disappointing considering they only come with ten.Hoping the other eight hold up. Fingers crossed.3Plastic Hairpins Are Good for Fragile HairMy hair is long, thin, and slippery. I wear it up in a high, loose bun during the day. My ponytail section is less than the diameter of a dime, so that is extremely thin. These plastic hairpins do the job well on thin, fine hair. I don't know how they would do for thick, heavy, coarse hair.I don't like metal hair accessories because they tear and cut my thin, baby-fine, fragile hair. I get these because they hold securely but gently and do no damage. They come in different colors but I chose the clear because my hair is turning grey and clear blends in with both my natural light-brown color and also the different shades of silver, grey, and white that are mixed into my hair. They are large enough so that only one or two can hold all of my thin and lightweight hair. If I try to use more than 2 or 3 at a time, they become heavier and bigger than my bun, so one or two is best for my type of hair. If you have thick hair, it would probably take more. If your hair is extremely heavy and thick, it might not work for you, but they are inexpensive so it wouldn't hurt to try them.I got two packages so I'd have plenty of backups if some of them get lost. I am 63 years old and I'd like enough to last the rest of my life. I love them and never want to be without them.5Keeping hair upI have been using these for a while now. I have fine hair (not thin), of medium length. My daughter has thick medium length hair. These are much easier for me to use than they are for my daughter. It seems to me that they may need to be a bit longer for thicker hair... maybe. For "regular" hair types, IF, these pinch, poke or slide out, you don't have them placed correctly. The pins have a slight curve to them, so when inserted, the curve should be away from your scalp, so that they do not poke. I gave myself a couple of good bruises before I figured this out! It is hard to explain and easier to show, but sliding the pins into the edge of the "bun" heading in a direction away from the bun first and then turning the pin back the opposite direction to secure under the bun works best for me..... if you have ever used a pencil or stick to secure your hair you likely are familiar with how to do this. If not, look on youtube, there are examples how to place pins to secure chignons - although, beware as I have noticed that they show the curve of the pin toward the scalp- OUCH!5Almost perfectThese are exactly what I was looking for. I have copious amounts of fine hair that just slides itself out of ponytail holders and bobby pins. I was hoping to find something that could secure my hair without snagging, and these fit the bill. Sometimes it can take a try or two to get them really secure without poking my scalp or sliding out, but that's a user error issue and not a product issue. So far these seem quite sturdy. I haven't had any break, nor have I felt in danger of breaking them. I use 2 to 3 at a time to secure up-dos, and they work exactly the way I like. There are tiny details that keep them from being a 5 star product. The edges aren't perfectly smooth, though so far that hasn't caused any snagging or hair breakage. The ends could also use a soft tip cover to cut down on scalp irritation, though if I put the pins in correctly, that isn't an issue either. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase and will purchase again when I eventually lose the ones I have.4No Nickel! Yay!I absolutely love these hair pins! I'm extremely sensitive to nickel and found my scalp burning after a day of wearing normal bobby pins. So for the past few years, I've just had to accept that I could no longer do the updos I love in order to protect my skin. These plastic pins though have allowed me to start wearing my hair up again!I was quite worried about them breaking after reading other reviews, but I have used them several times and not one of them has broken. I am careful when I take them out of my hair, but they do not seem extremely flimsy at all.5They stay in I am very pleased that these work so well in my fine, thinning hair 5Different plastic? Pins all broken!!!I have been using these hair pins for years. Normally the worst that happens is they stretch out, making them harder to insert. Rarely have I had one break, and if it did, it would be after 6+ months of DAILY use. This most recent pack is different. It has been 4 days since I opened the pack, and all but 2 pins have broken. It's as though the plastic is more brittle, and any amount of pressure caused them to snap. I will order again, hoping this is a fluke, but if another pack does this I will be very upset. I can't see spending $8 for 4 days of use on something that used to last me months.1Don't work like I had hoped they wouldI bought these because I needed a clear bobby pin like thing to help my stretchy headbands stay on my head. I have a smaller head so the headbands often slip off. When I tried to use them for that they didn't hold the headband very well. I am not sure how to use them for the reason they are probably intended to be used. I will google it sometime.3Easiest bun everMy mom gave me some bun pins similar to these about 10 years ago. When 2 of those 3 broke after regular use, I had to order more. I was skeptical, but these looked as close to what I had as I could find. Thankfully, they work great! 3 pins in a twisted bun and you've got work-ready hair in 5 minutes. These work well on thick hair of varying lengths. A must-have! If they last half as long as my last ones, I'll be happy!5They work! These are wonderful for my always thin and now thinning hair. They are easy to slide into my hair and to remove. The only negative is that by the end of the day they can tend to come loose. This doesn't detract from their usefulness. I am so happy to have found and purchase this product,5Poor QualiityI purchased two packs of these a few years ago and they were great to use instead of bands that pull the hair. Not a single one broke, but I've lost them over time. I ordered a new pack a couple of months ago and they all broke. My hair long but very very fine, not thick at all. Assume they have changed the materials which affects the quality.1Crystal Magic Grip Hairpins Great hairpins. Really like the clear version for my silver locks. They stay in well. Too well sometimes when I'm trying to remove them. But really they just work really well. 4Happy to find these again Great when you have thick hair & want to pull it up & Bobby pins are just not enough 5Really disappointed in these hairpins Really disappointed in these hairpins. I bought similar ones before and they were fantastic. These lose their shape quickly and they have a sharp plastic barb protruding from one side which damages my hair. The purpose of buying these hairpins we for them to be LESS damaging to the hair and they are not delivering on that. I believe it is the same brand I purchased years ago, but perhaps they went to a cheaper process to produce? I'm not sure what happened but these are not quality damage-free hair clips. 1Nice hairpins but bend and slide outI bought these to use hairpins keeping my bun in tact. Due to my job, I cannot use metal hairpins so I usually use rubber band to secure ends into the bun but I do not like the look of bands around my bun. I've tried these hairpins but these slide out of bun and I noticed these bend after a while. I will continue using these until I lose them all - being clear is very easy to lose.UPDATE: I finally gave up and now use metal bobby pins which I securely tuck into the hair bun. I don't think I will be returning to use these plastic hairpins since these barely held my hair in place.3Become Invisible in Your HairThese are a good price & I have used them for years! The stay in your hair a lot better too! These are a better price than I had been paying! They came fast as well!5Better than bobby pinsThese do hold and stay in pretty well with my heavy, thick hair. Unfortunately, they kind of want to pop back out a little ways after I push them in. They don't fall out, though, they are actually kind of hard to pull out. I think, if it's between these and old fashioned hair pins (not bobby pins) I would go with the hair pins, but your mileage may vary. 4 or 5 of them will hold a bun pretty securely. You do see the ends, though.3
