Make and explanation of technical changes to the product available to customers!I bought a NORELCO SH70/52 7000 Shaver Replacement Head through SUPPLIES USA, but fulfilled by AMAZON.COM. While replacing the old-original blades, I carefully inspected the new ones, and they appear very different than the originals. There is a disc structure to the rotary blades. On each of the three original blade units, there are 15 tiny blades that appear to be mounted (possibly welded) to the 15 points of the disc structure. I assume that these mounted blades are made of some special, tempered steel for shaving. However, on the replacement units, there are no mounted blades, only the disc structure. Therefore, the whole disc unit is made of the same metal. (see photo with original blade on left, and your replacement on the right. You can clearly see that the unit on the left has mounted blades, while the unit on the right does not. I have read some critical reviews on AMAZON stating that the replacement blades were not as sharp or long lasting as the originals, however, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and a chance to explain the change. Is this a newer design made with the whole disc metal unit made of shaver grade steel? Or, is this different design an inferior quality replacement? I tried contacting Philips directly, but the person I texted with directed me to contact the vendor.I am frustrated because of the time it is taking to follow through with contacting the vendor or Amazon about this matter. I tried to find a way to message the vendor besides simply sending back the unit for a refund, because I had the product sent to a friend in the USA who then carried it to me overseas. I considered sending it back, but being overseas, I might miss the deadline for returns, as well as incurring shipping costs. Plus, when I clicked "return", the only shipping option was through the USA address of my friend. Replacement heads for the older model shaver currently cost $165.00, over 500 times what they cost five years ago ($30.00). Norelco definitely has a scam going. My recommendation is to buy several years worth of extra replacement heads at a lower cost. All in all, I've been very happy with Norelco shaver over the past 30 years. 5Works great when new, but doesn't last longThese do a great job of cutting closely when they are new. They sure don't seem to last as long as they used to, however. The shaver's owner's manual recommends replacing every 12 months. If I go more than about 4 months, they stop cutting closely, and take about 3 or 4 times as many passes to get a moderately acceptable shave. I find this odd, since the set that came with the shaver lasted almost a year before it got too dull to shave well.The price would be reasonable if they actually lasted. For just 4 months of use, I don't find $40 to be at all reasonable. 1Not close cuttngIf you enjoy an hour and a half inserting these shavers as much as shaving with them, more power to you. This is the third set of replacements for norelco. Actually, none wer much good. I tried the latest today, and they do not cut close. I am disapointed, because I have used norleco shavers for years. They did not perform to the level of the original blades. I contacted Phillips support chat and they were great. They sent me free replacement blades. So far the blades are amazing = just like when I bought the razor. 1replacement shaver bladesI bought the Philips Norelco SH70/52 7000 shaver replacement blades that were "open box or returned" at a lower price. I found that the box was beat up, but the blades were still in the original sealed plastic container. They are perfect. I hope to get some more for the lower price. It's amazing how much better the shave is after replacing the year old blades. 5PainfulI got my Philips norelco 7500 shaver last year and was pretty happy with it until it was time to change the blades. I bought these heads assuming things would be the same. I was mistaken. I m dreading each shave due to the pain it causes me; literally pulling hair. I can t believe I have to throw the whole thing and buy a whole new shaver. Why would Philips not use the same heads that come with the shaver as replacements? Changing brand! 1
