Freaking awesome!!! Use on wet lathered skin Wow!!! I love it. Background: I have been using different brand for the past 5 yrs on my bikini and armpit areas. This is the first time I ve ordered panasonic brand. My previous one keeps turning off on me even though it is fully charged, so I had 2 wks of arm pit growth and about a month of bikini growth. I started with armpits and dry skin, there are two rows of twizzers so it took care of my arm pits pretty quickly but not very smoothly...still better than the stupid epilator that keeps turning itself off. I moved on to bikini area, I usually put baby powder on so it grabs easier, still not impressed, the usual experience. I looked at the box again for some hope of excitement and it said I could use it in the shower, so I decided to try. This is where this epilator shines, literally 7 minutes later I am done...I could not believe it!!!! The doubt of poor lighting and bunch hair left over crawled into my head. I got out and there is nothing...not a single stray hair. I love it!!!! No bruising, so fast and very little pain compared to my previous one. I am so happy and hairless, I love it. Thank you Panasonic for this product and I am very sorry for not finding you 5 years ago!!!!! 5Blows the Emjoi Emagine out of the water! I've had the purple cordless Emjoi Emagine for a year and I thought I liked it pretty well. I bought this Panasonic model because I was interested in the option to epilate in the shower and was also intrigued by the pumice (foot buffing) attachment. Here are my first impressions (and I'll update the review if these impressions change):-My legs are much smoother with this epilator than the Emjoi Emagine. With the Emjoi, my legs just don't feel smooth, ever. But this Panasonic left my legs "date night" smooth (ha!) when I epilated dry (clean skin with no lotion applied).-The results were not as good when I epilated wet (with shower gel on the head, as instructions indicate). I did one leg dry and one leg wet and the wet-epilated leg is not as smooth as the dry-epilated leg. It is about as smooth as the Emjoi would get it. -Some people seem to think that epilating wet is less painful but I did not find this to be the case.-The pumice function is awesome! I've never had a rotary-style foot buffer and now I realize what I've been missing. I do a terrible job with a simple "pumice stone on a handle" and usually end up taking off too much skin, and in the wrong places too. With the pumice attachment, it seems to work well to use your ears to listen for when you are going over a rough spot (which helps you take off only the parts that need buffing). I don't get the sense that the little pumice wheel lasts very long (will need a replacement pumice soon) but I felt that with about 7 minutes per foot I removed 2 summers' worth of callousesr.-Underarm attachment is great. Did not pinch my skin at all like the Emjoi sometimes does.-Does not hurt any more or less than the Emjoi. This epilating process involves zappy little tingles which I find to be quite tolerable. The Emjoi sounds louder and more machine-like in my opinion (which might make some women feel self-conscious I suppose, if they are in that phase of a relationship where they feel the need to appear delicate and ladylike all the time). The sound of the Emjoi would definitely invite jokes about weedwhacking and inquiries like, "what the heck are you doing in there?")-The skin on my legs is supersensitive and I find both the Emjoi and the Panasonic tolerable dry. My skin did not like the wet epilation with the Panasonic. I got little bumps that feel "hot" and I feel like it's taking a while (a couple hours) for the skin to get back to normal. This never happens when I epilate dry with very gentle pressure.-The Panasonic is WAY better on knees and ankles and shins due to the flexible angling of the dual heads (kind of like how those Venus shavers flex to match the shape of your knee). With the Emjoi, you have to get the angle just right or you end up sort of "missing" your skin/hair. I feel like this wastes time.-The Panasonic's light is GREAT. Perhaps that's one reason I was able to get my legs smoother. All in all, I think this will become a top seller soon, due to the versatility, having more/better attachments than either the Emjoi or Phillips comparable models.I think they both would be better without the bold colors, but that's just personal preference. I would prefer silver or plain black myself. 5Fav My favorite epilator of all time. I have been epilating for years and have had the emjoi and Braun silk9 and just got this one this week. I tried dry first as that has been my routine and it went great, a lot faster than the others. I love the 3 speed options and the pivoting head and decided it was gentle enough to try the epilator wet with a little shower gel around the bikini area. This has always been far too painful in the past and i could not do it. But i took it slow and hedged in closer and closer and it was very painful but i was able to actually get it all for the first time! That is the hardest session as long as i keep up on it because everything will grow back in stages and finer now. Make sure to shave a few days before or use the inluded trimmer so the hair is short.I paid more for the Braun 9 and feel this is a fair price for my favorite epilator to date! 5Tried to post this review six days ago Tried to post this review six and again three days ago but nothing I have done makes it show up (?) Trying again. My delight in the efficacy and relatively minimal pain of this product was significantly diminished when it seized mid-operation, trapping a quarter-inch by half-inch section of the skin of my bikini-area-adjacent thigh area (!!!) in the device. I will give Panasonic the opportunity to respond appropriately, as I feel this device has otherwise performed acceptably, and this may be a fluke. However, I feel new users should be cautioned immediately regardless. It took me 5 minutes to pry my thigh skin from the machine, so you ve been warned. I will note in edits how many days it takes until my (original 2/26/19) warning about this issue is posted. Edit: 3/3/19: Continue to wait for review to be posted. Other reviews posted same day have already been made live.I will not stop editing with timeframe updates until this review is up so that other women can be cautioned for their safety. This product can capture skin on even on areas for which it is advertised for use, it does and not release it without pulling and damaging it. I believe that I should be free to inform other prospective buyers on this platform, or there is no purpose in offering a review functionality on the platform. Thank you. 2Was excited, but now, just meh. I use this on my face, legs and underarms. I always shower/exfoliate first and moisturize after. It was wonderful the first time, only hurt a little, and has been hurting less and less them ore often I use it. I'm rating it 3 stars because this has turned into more work than I would have liked. Some of my hair is apparently very fine and this doesn't grab those. Also, I've noticed that it doesn't always pull the hair so much as it shears it off, and so i end up getting ingrown hairs. I use Tend skin to help with the irritation after epilating and before moisturizing, but it still doesn't get rid of the ingrown hairs - it just stops my legs from itching and having a bunch of red spots everywhere, but it works at doing just that like a charm. I've just purchased a whizker to see if this will help... Failing this, I'll have to try waxing somewhere and then coming back to the epilator. 3This is my 3rd in...20 years! I've been using this epilator for 20 years. I've never used other epilators so I cannot compare to others, but I keep buying the same product cause I'm so happy with this one. First off let me tell you this is a very well-made product that lasts for a long time. No need to buy an extra insurance on these. It comes with TWO YEARS warranty but you probably won't need it anyway. I bought the first two in Japan, both lasted about 10 years. The original one broke when I accidentally threw it onto the tile. (After use it in the shower, be extra careful not to loose a grip especially when you try to shake it off to remove extra water.) On the second one, one of an attachment stopped spinning after about 10 years. The body actually still works but I use that particular attachment the most, so I decided to buy new one...and I'm not sorry.I was happy with the previous one I bought 10 years ago, but this one is definitely improved. The noise level and the pain level are same as before, but somehow it epilates faster. With the previous model, sometimes some hair broke off instead of pulled off but that doesn't happen with this one so my skin afterwards feels smoother. It charges much faster too.For people who has never epilated before, here are a few tips:When epilate for the first time, trim the hair very short. It's less painful that way.In general, dry epilate works better and faster and I believe it's more gentle on skin but wet epilate is less painful. If it's too painful (such as on face, etc.), numb the area with ice in advance.Don't use it right before you go out, especially under the sun. The skin may be irritated and look red for a while after use.Clean after every use and let it air dry.I haven't used the shaver attachment and the foot care attachment so I cannot comment on those. 5Of course it hurts like hell, but it's worth it. For everyone that's complaining about this product because it's 'painful', what did you expect? Take some tweezers and start plucking the hair on your legs, it obviously doesn't feel good, now imagine 20 of those hairs being pulled out at once and that's how it feels to use an epilator. The 'gentle head' is a must, not because it makes it gentle, this is mildly deceiving, but because it's not quite as painful as using the regular attachment. I have light skin and a mix of light/dark hair, I've noticed that the light thin hair doesn't get pulled out as effectively as the darker thicker hair, but it tends to work a little better when the hair is roughly 5 mm long and I use the slower of the two settings.Yes the first time is going to be the worst, but if you can get down a couple glasses of wine beforehand and tough it out, it is SO worth it. My legs were very bumpy and irritated for a day or two after the first use but I didn't have to use it again for a couple weeks, which was amazing considering I would get stubble the same day when I would shave. Each time has gotten slightly less painful, I've probably used it 6 times or so over the last 4 or 5 months. In that time frame I've only shaved a handful of times, only because I've actually forgotten to use the epilator because the hair grows back so slow and soft now and it's extremely painful to epilate long hairs. The directions say not to use on your thighs and knees because that skin is more sensitive and can get caught in the tweezers, it's slightly more sensitive than lower legs but I've never gotten the skin caught. I tried using on my underarms and bikini once, I would not recomend this. Ever. Really. It HURT. To the point that I bled, and I sat there with tissues shoved under my arms and on my lady bits. I can handle the daily shaving of those parts easy enough.Overall I love how smooth my legs are now, it's the kind of smooth I was never able to obtain with a razor. My boyfriend doesn't even notice when it's been weeks since I've epilated because the hair is just that soft and fine when it grows back, as opposed to when I used a razor and he would accuse me of not shaving for a week, when in reality it had been a day. I'm excited to see how much thinner my hair will get over time, and hopefully how much less painful it will get. Already it's a huge improvement from the first time I used this, but I have high hopes with such great results in such a small amount of time!*this pic is 3 days after epilating my legs, and still not a hair in sight!'* 5Worked fine at first, useless after ten months. I bought this in January 2017 and used two - three times a week (writing this in October 2017). By midsummer I had to start "supplementing" with pulling with a tweezers. By now, it is really not working at all anymore. I took care to follow the instructions regarding cleaning, charging, and storing. 1Totally Worth It! I have fine hair and wasn't sure whether or not this would be worth the money. I've never been waxed so I wasn't sure how painful this little wheat thresher would be. Based on some of the reviews about how much pain this little fella inflicted, I was hesitant and waited for about three months before I decided to buy. I'm glad I did! Here are some pros and cons from my perspective based on a good 2 months of use.PROS1) Short charge time --> long run time2) Easy to switch out attachments and easy to clean. Attachments can be disassembled for cleaning but are built well and stay intact while in use.3) Versatility. I love the shaver attachment! The pop-up electric blade is great for trimming the super sensitive areas of my uh.."beard". I was really concerned about how aggressive this would be around my lips but found that it's both gentle and accurate. The clear attachable comb is great for trimming everything else down. Now, the wheat thresher was a little intimidating at first but I read several people say to get in a position that allows you to hold your skin tight - DO THIS! I'd also add, don't get distracted and you'll be fine. If you don't hold everything tight or have a moment of distraction, your skin will get pinched in the spinning wheels of doom - this is not fun but will be a mistake you'll make only once! If you already get waxed between your legs, I would imagine the discomfort from the epilation should be manageable. Certain areas are more sensitive than others but it's not that bad. I use the large epilator from the front edges, through the middle and all the way to the back. The built-in light is really helpful for seeing hairs that you may have missed or still need to go over. Great for pits and legs too (remember to hold your skin tight!).4)The foot buffer is amazing!! Every time I spend the money on a pedicure, I never feel like I get my money's worth. This little buffer allows me a speedy way to exfoliate the areas of my feet that I feel like need a little extra attention. So much better than the manual foot scrubbers. Doesn't hurt at all and buffs down to a nice, smooth finish. Can be used wet or dry.5) Easy to handle/lightweight6) Longer time without hair and when it does grow back, its much thinner.7) Discomfort decreases w/each use.CONS1) Time-consuming. To get a nice smooth finish from epilation, you have to make several passes over the same spot. If you're doing legs, pits, and hooha, plan for it. Exfoliate in the shower to prep, then epilate. It can take around 30-40 minutes depending on how wild and wooly things have become and how much surface area you're covering. However, the time you're gaining back by not having to shave every other day is worth it (at least it was for me).2) Bumps and ingrown hairs. This is something I never really had to worry about before but it's something I'm learning how to manage and mitigate. They're fewer and further between so I think I'm figuring it out.Bottom line: Worth the investment even if you have fine hair. Is the pain level manageable? Yes - seriously it's not that bad. If you've had a tattoo or have been waxed before, you'll be able to handle this. Clean after each use, disassemble and let air dry on a all towel. Remember to keep your skin tight! 5Best epilator ever for a person who has used many! I ve used the Philips, and the Braun, and this is by far, the best epilator I ve ever used! Now if you think this means it doesn t hurt, you are in for a big surprise. If this is your first time epilating you will be very spoiled with this being your first one, but you should make sure you can tolerate the uncomfortable feeling of having your hair pulled from the root. If you can t handle a wax, you will hate this. This unit has been the most successful for multiple types of hair. I have baby fine hairs, wirery hairs and thick corse hairs. And on my legs, I feel like my hair grows in sometimes some random directions. With other units this would cause the thicker hairs to be just cut instead of pulled or ignored. This unit ignores or doesn t mind if I change the rotation of the head. The head pivots which is great for curved areas. I ve used it everywhere hair grows( except my head, and I mean everywhere! ). Some advice for newbies... 1) if you are ordering this today, go shave your legs now, so that when it arrives you have 2 days of growth. 2) exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate 3) moisuturize 4) when it arrives before using, use a body brush or loofah and brush the hairs up and eliminate the dead skin . 5) go get into the shower and really get warm (pores open up and let the hair slide out easier the warmer you are) 6) take some shower gel and put it on the epilator 7) start epilating - pretend like it s a shaver. It will hurt a little at first , and if you have a pulsating shower head, let it pulse on the area you are epilating (almost numbs it) 8) do not think for one moment you will get all the hairs the very first time- set a timer for 5 minutes and stop. (About 1-2 passes). You should have a light hand-do not press hard, and go about 1-2 inches per second. 9) if you are prone to ingrown hairs, or rarely exfoliate or moisturize, get some witch hazel or salycylic acid toner (I get the clean and clear toner just for this) and go over the are you epilated with some. 10) Congratulate yourself and repeat every shower for a week. After a week you will have be amazed. I epilate once or twice a week but it only take a 5 minutes . If you let it grow out more than 1/8 inch you have to start all over :(. 5
